Bonehook Gets Religion, Creates New Brand Identity and Website for Florida Church

AUSTIN, TX—St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Marco Island, Florida turned to Bonehook, a brand marketing firm based in Austin, Texas with a unique request.

The church sought a partner to help it reinvent its logo and brand identity, and create a new website and street-facing signs (now in production). “The creative brief called for universal expressions of love, so right away, I knew this project was going to be different from the rest,” says David Burn, founder and creative director of Bonehook.

St. Mark’s prominent location on Marco Island offers the church an opportunity to express itself to thousands of motorists each day who drive by on Collier Boulevard. The island location is also a challenge for the church as many visitors and part-time residents already belong to a church elsewhere.

Reverend at St. Mark’s, Dr. Jessica Harris Babcock, says, “We welcome people of all ages, faiths, and backgrounds to worship here and to find community. Not just Episcopalians.”

Then church’s new tagline, “Rooted in Love, Shaped by Prayer,” is further enhanced by the church’s new logo, which features the heart symbol and palm tree in combination with a Florida-inspired color palette.

“We wanted to convey the power of place because Marco Island is such an amazing place and home to a close-knit, caring community,” says Burn.

St. Mark’s is located at the center of Marco Island in a uniquely beautiful building, designed by local Naples-based architect, Victor Latavish and constructed in 1978.

Rev. Babcock says, “When you visit Marco Island, you will see our church, and we want to be open and inviting to anyone who seeks God’s presence in their lives. We’re also a great place to make new friends.”

St. Mark’s also operates a popular preschool program, which is featured prominently on the new website at www.stmarksmarco.org.
