David Burn: Brand Strategy, Copywriting and Creative Direction
David wrote his first ad for a political candidate when he was 17 years old. She won her race and the advertising hook was set. David studied English and American history at Franklin & Marshall College before heading to Capitol Hill, where he advocated for wild and scenic rivers. David joined the agency business as a copywriter in Salt Lake City in 1997 and worked for seven agencies in five states, before embarking on the entrepreneur’s journey and forming Bonehook in Portland, Oregon in 2009. Bonehook is the outcome of many lessons learned working on some of America’s best brands.
Darby Strong: Project Management, Account Service and Agency Operations
Darby is a pop culture junkie who can name that tune in less than three seconds. She’s also an amazing organizer of tasks and people. Before joining Bonehook, Darby worked in event management for The Chicago Film Festival, in operations for the International Living Future Institute, and in client success for Portland social media startup, Little Bird. Darby grew up playing point guard, and later working as a server in restaurants. She credits her early experience with helping her learn to anticipate, juggle multiple tasks, and to see the entire field of play.
Cathy Solarana: Art Direction, Graphic Design and Interior Design
Cathy puts the “art” in Art Director. Like many Midwesterners, she is a hard-working, no-nonsense designer who brings her all to every project. Cathy’s “all” means a thorough exploration of your existing brand assets in an effort to improve the “look and feel” for your particular industry and audience. Passion for design and for client care are hallmarks of her work. Cathy is active in AIGA leadership, both locally and nationally. She also teaches at Creighton University and puts on seminars for designers seeking to advance their work.
Shawn Hartley: Web Development, Analytics and Search Marketing
Shawn is the guy who makes it all work, digitally speaking. No creative team is complete today without someone to manage the daily complexities of web design and development, search optimization and marketing, web hosting, data backup, security and analytics. Shawn meets the digital storm with patience, experience and hands-on know-how. He was coding websites in the 1990s before many Americans had their first email account. Today, many clients count on Shawn’s wealth of knowledge to keep their digital marketing moving forward.
